Keep Music Alive is a 501c3 non-profit, and our MISSION is to promote the VALUE of MUSIC: For our children's education, for the many types of therapy music is being utilized for and for our overall happiness. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to play music and every adult needs to be reminded that its never to late to start playing.
To help support this mission, we have founded Kids Music Day and Teach Music America Week. Together, we partner with hundreds of music school and retail locations in the US, Canada and beyond to bring more music to their communities and offer free lessons to new students.
Kids Music Day was founded in 2016 and is held on the first Friday of every October. We partner with music school and retail locations everywhere to hold special events celebrating Kids Music Day including open houses, student music performances, open mics, instrument petting zoos, instrument donation drives and more. Keep Music Alive partnered with over 400 music school and retail locations on October 6th, 2017 to celebrate the 2nd Annual Kids Music Day.
Teach Music Week was founded in 2015 and is held during the 3rd week of March, coinciding with Music in our Schools Month. During Teach Music Week (formerly Teach Music America), we partner with music school and retail locations everywhere to offer free music lessons to new students for both kids and adults. In March 2017, we partnered with over 600 music school and retail locations in all 50 states and Canada to offer free music lessons.
